Study of high voltage polymer insulators with Laser Induced Fluorescence-LIF technique
LIF Spectroscopy
- Non destructive
- Simple optical set up
- Non contact, real time and remote recording system
LIF technique has been applied for the determination of the optical properties of the insulators surface in order to recognize the physical state of the material.
The LIF method enables the identification of insulators with different chemical composition, since the emission spectra, obtained from the surface of the specimens, demonstrate different spectral characteristics.
The spectral characteristics (emission intensity and peak position) differ on the surface compared to the bulk of the insulators.
Study of high voltage polymer insulators with Raman Spectroscopy
Raman Spectroscopy
- Non destructive analytical technique
- Highly specific, determines the molecular structure and chemical composition of organic and/or inorganic materials.
- Fast measurements
- Quantitative analysis
Raman technique has been applied for the determination of the structure and organization of the insulator surface material, aiming at the evaluation of the insulators condition and functionality.
Study of high voltage polymer insulators with Fourier Transform Infrared- Attenuated Total Reflection/ (FTIR-ATR) technique
FTIR-ATRtechnique is highly effective method for the reliable identification of the insulator material.
The absorption is reduced with the operation time in the distribution electricity network.
